American Hebrew Academy Announces New Scholarship Program for Children of Jewish Educators and Professionals
♦ by RAVSAK Staff
Effectively immediately, all students now accepted for admission to the American Hebrew Academy who are the children of a Jewish educator or other Jewish organization professional will also receive an annual one third tuition scholarship. Tuition at the Academy for the 2007-2008 academic year will be $25,330 making the value of this new scholarship approximately $8,500 on an annual basis and approximately $34,000 per family over the course of our four year, high school program. The American Hebrew Academy, offers a state-of-the-art environment that fosters academic achievement and strengthens Jewish identity for students in grades nine through twelve. Esteemed faculty challenge students to excel in a rigorous program that includes Advanced Placement and Jewish studies courses. The Academy’s dual curriculum, along with the aquatics center and sports complex, provides a holistic educational experience--nurturing mind, body and soul. “The Academy believes that no one better understands the value of Jewish education than those actively engaged as Jewish educators and in other causes supporting the Jewish people. Our support of Jewish educators, other Jewish professionals and their children is recognition of the investment all of us in Jewish education have made and the financial sacrifices we have chosen to accept given our profession. Our personal commitment to Jewish education should not limit the choices we have for our own children. In the future, we hope the children of our professional colleagues will look to the American Hebrew Academy as a place of Jewish education excellence that they may not otherwise have been able to afford but for the creation of the Academy’s new Jewish Educators & Professionals Scholarship Fund,” said Dr. Gary Grandon, Academy Principal. “The American Hebrew Academy believes that honoring Jewish educators and Jewish organization professionals by recognizing the needs of those who are the most committed to furthering the Academy’s mission requires the support of the entire Jewish community,” said Glenn Drew, speaking about this innovative program on behalf of the Board of Trustees. At the Academy, values and leadership skills are enriched by the culture, customs, and history of the Jewish people. Academy students graduate thoroughly prepared for college and ready to make a meaningful impact on the Jewish world. The American Hebrew Academy presently serves 134 students from 26 states and ten countries and is America’s only Jewish pluralistic college prep boarding high school.
