60 Trees for Israel’s 60th
♦ by RAVSAK Staff
In partnership with JNF: The Jewish National Fund and in celebration of Israel at 60, we are thrilled to announce the inauguration of Ya’ar Ravsak, a new forest to be planted in the Negev starting this winter. Our goal is simple: We ask every RAVSAK school, through its student, parent, and faculty bodies, to raise funds for 60 or more trees – at least one tree for every year of modern statehood. If 100 member schools commit to 60 trees each, then together we will plant a forest of 6,000 trees, which will, upon maturity, offset over 132 TONS of carbon emissions EACH YEAR while providing Israel with shade, clean air, enriched soil, protection from erosion, and renewable resources like wood and paper. Participating schools which meet their goal of 60 trees will receive a framed certificate crafted specifically for the inaugural campaign for Ya’ar Ravsak and Israel at 60. Educational materials as well as tree order forms are being sent to each member school in December. We hope to achieve our goal of 6,000 trees before Yom HaAtzmaut.
